PITTSBURGH - The Marshall swimming and diving team picked up its second loss of the weekend Saturday as Duquesne claimed its first win of the season, topping the Herd 117-88. Marshall now falls to 2-4 on the year.
MU was led by its breaststroke group. Senior Michaela Sceli, junior Ally Melinsky and senior Erin Hill finished first, second and third in the 200-yard breast.
Freshman Jenae Moreno picked up her first win of the season, winning the 200-yard free in a time of 1:58.04.
Kayla Truswell finished first in the 200-yard butterfly with a mark of 2:10.27. Sophomore Jenny Johnsson took first-place honors in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:07.83
In the 400-yard medley relay Erin Kennedy, Sceli, Truswell and Lauren Goodwin teamed up to give Marshall the win, clocking in at 4:02.60.
"Our breaststrokers were solid once again," Marshall head coach Leonard Kraus said. "Our flyers were also solid. Jenny looked good in the 200 back and was close the school record.
"We keep falling on the same things. We know where we need to improve. Hopefully we can get a nice week of training in and get those areas corrected."
