Jam the Cam VII Set For Sunday Against Navy

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - On Sunday, the Thundering Herd women's basketball team will play host to Navy at 1 p.m. in a game that will mark the seventh-annual "Jam the Cam" event.
The 2007 version will be a salute to our troops as all current and former military personnel will be given free admission to Sunday's game with their military id. Admission will be $1 for all others.
All in attendance will have a chance to win a 32" flat-panel television which will be given out through a drawing by the Marshall University Alumni Association. The first 300 fans will also receive a 2007-08 Marshall women's basketball schedule poster.
A military theme will surround the game as the Marine Corps Color Guard will be present and a video presentation will be shown in honor of the troops. West Virginia legend Woody Williams, the oldest living recipient of the Medal of Honor, will also be present.
"We are very excited to host the Naval Academy," head coach Royce Chadwick said. "We are hoping for a great showing of our military personnel who will get in free with their id."
"We are also looking forward to the four color guards that will be in attendance. It will also be a tremendous honor for Woody Williams to be in our facility."
In the previous six years, the event has brought in over 24,000 fans. Marshall set the school and Mid-American Conference single-game attendance record in 2004 against Kentucky with 7,017 in attendance. The inaugural "Jam the Cam" in 2001 brought in 5,256 people, which set the school record at that time.
Prior to Sunday's game, the Herd will face Ohio University on Friday at 11 a.m. In its last action, Marshall evened its record at 4-4 with an 82-70 win at North Texas last Tuesday.
