HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - It has been announced that the Thundering Herd's home contest against Memphis will be televised by CSS, making it a total of three Marshall women's basketball contests being televised this season.
Marshall's home contest against Memphis on January 24, 2009 will be televised by CSS. Originally set for a 2 p.m. start, the time has been changed to 12 p.m.
"We are very excited that CSS has chosen to pick up another Marshall game this season. We will now be airing on ESPN, CSS and the Capital Classic Network all in one year," head coach Royce Chadwick said. "I believe this is a testament to just how far Women's Basketball at Marshall has progressed. We are very excited to be a part of the Marshall window through which fans can view our University."
The Memphis game will mark the first of two nationally televised home games for the Herd in 2008-09. ESPN2 is set to televise Marshall's home contest against Southern Miss on February 15. That game will also mark the eighth annual Jam the Cam game.
Marshall's annual game against West Virginia in the Capital Classic will be broadcast locally on the Capital Classic Network.
The Herd gets things going this weekend, playing host to the Exodus All-Stars on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. in its first preseason contest. Marshall will wrap up the preseason on November 8 against the DT-3 All Stars before opening up the regular season at Appalachian State on November 14.
"We have had a slew of injuries. This has given our nine new faces lots of reps in practice. It has however limited what we have been able to accomplish at an expedient rate," Chadwick continued. "IF and it is a big IF, we can get our returnees healthy, we have a chance to have a very good team. The early part of the season will be an eye opener for our new players. Hope for a fast transition from High School basketball to Division 1 for the team."
