Women's Tennis Finish Successful at Hokie Invitational

BLACKSBURG, Va. - The Marshall University women's tennis team completed play Sunday at the 15th annual Hokie Invitational at the Burrows/Burleson Tennis Center at the Virginia Tech campus. The Thundering Herd went 3-1 in Sunday action.
Thirteen teams competed this weekend including Albany, Appalachian State, Davidson, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, Liberty, Marshall, Murray State, Radford, Chattanooga, Virginia, Wofford, and Virginia Tech.
East Carolina's Jessica Cook took ninth place over the Herd's sophomore Isabell Raich (Klaus, Austria), 6-7(5), 6-4, 1-0(6) in singles flight A.
Sophomore transfer Catherine Kellner (Smithtown, N.Y.) defeated Chattanooga's Shaina Singh in straight-sets to win singles flight B third place, 6-4, 6-3.
Freshman Kristina Koprcina (Split, Croatia) won singles flight C fifth place over Davidson's Molly McDevitt, 6-3, 6-3.
The Herd duo of Kellner and Koprcina took an 8-3 advantage over Radford's pair of Petra Dajevic and Drobnjak for doubles flight A seventh place.
Marshall will finish its fall season at the Kitty Harrison Tournament at North Carolina's campus next weekend. The Herd will travel to Chapel Hill, N.C. with action beginning Friday and concluding Sunday.
