HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Thundering Herd women's basketball team will wrap up its three game home stand on Saturday as they will take on the University of Richmond on Saturday at 3 p.m.

The game will be the first in a doubleheader with the men's team, who will take on the University of the Cumberlands at 7 p.m. Admission to the game is free with the purchase of a men's ticket.

Marshall is coming off of its top performance in over five years, topping Houston Baptist, 91-50, on Tuesday evening. That marked the highest margin of victory for the Herd since the 2003 season-opening 88-34 win over Morgan State.

Tynikki Crook led a quartet of double digit scorers for the Herd, tallying 17 points. Alix Barnette scored 15 points while Chantelle Handy and Alyssa Hammond chipped in 12 and 11 points, respectively.

It was not just the returning players who made solid impacts, several newcomers had their top games of the season. Alaya Mitchell, who scored three points in her first six games, tallied nine against the Huskies. Keona Brooks and Annette Kristiansen set career scoring marks while Kamille Lisonbee tied her previous high.

Marshall dominated in just about every facet of the game on Tuesday, including points in the paint (66-22), rebounding (48-26), points off turnovers (29-6) and shooting percentage (.577-.333)

It will need to put up the same effort against Richmond, who comes to Huntington with an 8-1 record. The Spiders started the season 8-0 before falling to Towson, 56-48, last Saturday.

Sophomore guard Brittani Shells is averaging 15.6 PPG for the Spiders, tops on the team and in the top five in the Atlantic 10. Johanna McKnight, a senior guard, averaged 11.4 PPG and a team high 5.6 rebounds per game.

Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. at the Cam Henderson Center. It will mark the final home game for the Herd until January 18, 2009 when it will take on East Carolina. Over the Christmas break, Marshall will participate in the University of Maryland Tournament, which features Mississippi State, UNC Asheville and Maryland, before starting the Conference USA portion of its schedule on the road at East Carolina on January 3.

Following the trip to Greenville, MU will face SMU and Tulsa on the road before facing WVU in the Capital Classic on January 14.
