Thundering Herd Topples Tennessee State, 74-60

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) -Tirrell Baines scored 18 points to lead Marshall in a 74-60 win against Tennessee State on Sunday.
Baines also led the Thundering Herd (7-5) with six rebounds, two blocks and went 8 of 8 from the free-throw line. Marshall hit 24 of 25 as a team from the line (96 percent).
Chris Lutz added 17 points and Damier Pitts chipped in with 14 and six assists.
Gerald Robinson Jr. scored 21 points for the Tigers (3-8), Jerrell Houston added 14 and Parker Smith had 10.
The Tigers hit just eight of their 21 free-throws (38.1 percent) in the loss.
Marshall controlled the first half, starting the game on a 16-3 run and taking a 42-21 lead at the break. The Tigers fought back in the second, getting within 66-60 as late as 2:14 left on a Darius Cox basket.
But Lutz scored five points in an 8-0 run from that point to seal the win for Marshall.
