HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Friday's women's basketball game pitting Marshall against UCF will mark the Thundering Herd's "Think Pink" game in support of the WBCA's 2008 campaign.
"Think Pink" is a program started last year by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association, which was started to raise breast cancer awareness. The success of the program has grown dramatically in only its second year. In its inaugural campaign last year, 120 institutions participated, while this year, over 900 schools will be participating in the initiative.
At Friday's game, there will be several events and promotions in support of the program. The first 750 fans will be given free pink rally towels. Pink ribbons will also be available. Also, staff members from the Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center will be given free admission to the game.
The Thundering Herd players and coaches will also show their support. The players will be wearing pink shoelaces, pink headbands while sporting pink t-shirts prior to the game. All fans are encouraged to wear pink to the game.
Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on Friday at the Cam Henderson Center.
