Wilkerson Leads Herd Men Past Knights, 71-66

HUNTINGTON, W. Va. (AP) - Tyler Wilkerson had 22 points and 15 rebounds to lead Marshall to a 71-66 win over UCF on Saturday.
Mark Dorris scored 13 of his 18 points in the second half and Tirrell Baines added 10 points for Marshall (15-11, 7-6 Conference USA).
Mike O'Donnell scored 20 points and Dave Noel added 14 for UCF (14-12, 7-5). Leading scorer Jermaine Taylor made just 4-of-13 shots and was held to 10 points, 12 below his average.
UCF was coming off a 110-75 win over East Carolina on Wednesday, the first time the Knights had scored that many points since 1991. But UCF was held to 40 percent shooting (22-of-55) against Marshall.
Marshall led 25-24 at halftime and shot 56 percent (15-of-27) from the floor in the second half.
Darryl Merthie's jumper gave Marshall its largest lead, 44-33, with 11:38 remaining in the game.
UCF coach Kirk Speraw was called for a technical foul with 3:16 left and Dorris made both free throws for a 60-51 lead. UCF got no closer than 65-61 after a Mike Battle 3-pointer with 22 seconds left.
Marshall made 9-of-10 free throws over the final 1:25.
