Chantelle Handy Named Conference USA Co-Player Of The Week

IRVING, Texas - Marshall University junior Chantelle Handy has been named the Conference USA women's basketball Co-Player of the Week, it was announced Monday by the conference office.

The honor is the first for Handy and the second for the Thundering Herd this season. Sophomore Tynikki Crook garnered the honor on November 24.

Handy began the week with a solid 12-point, six-assist performance in Wednesday's Capital Classic against West Virginia. That came in a game that saw her play in a season high 38 minutes.

She rounded out the week with a career game in Sunday's conference win over East Carolina. Handy recorded a career high 25 points, topping her previous career high by nine points. An 11-of-13 performance equaled out to a .846 shooting percentage for the game. She also finished the game with six assists and three rebounds.

Handy finished the week 17-of-23 from the floor, good for an impressive .739 shooting percentage. She tallied a total of 12 assists, seven rebounds and four steals.

She shares this weeks honor with UTEP forward Timika Williams, who scored 22 points the Miners 73-60 win over Tulane on Sunday.
