Los Angeles, Calif. - Junior Michaela Kissell will represents the Marshall University women's tennis team this weekend in the 25th Annual Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships, to be played at the Riviera Country Club.

"Except for the NCAA Championship title itself, there is no bigger intercollegiate tennis title than this," said Ken Thomas of RadioTennis.com.

Kissell, the 36th ranked player in the country, received an automatic bid into the tournament by being the highest ranked player in the Mid-Atlantic region.

"It's exciting that Michaela can represent Marshall and her team at such a great event," head coach John Mercer said. "She has definitely earned her way there."

Kissell carries momentum into this weekend's event as she is coming off a flawless performance at the Hokie Fall Invitational on the Campus of Virginia Tech. Kissell captured the Flight A singles title, as well as the Flight A doubles title with teammate Dominika Zaprazna.

For Coach Mercer, this tournament is familiar territory as he has sent a player to the Riviera Country Club in eight of the last nine years.

"It's good to see Michaela carry on the tradition of playing in this event," Mercer said.

www.RadioTennis.com has announced that they will be covering the tournament via web cast for the entire tournament.
