Swimming Wraps Up Hilltopper Invite in Third

BOWLING GREEN, Ky.- The Marshall University swimming and diving team finished third at the Hilltopper Invite, hosted by Western Kentucky, on Sunday at the Bill Powell Natatorium.
Vera Niemeyer posted a personal-best in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:08.78, topping her previous best of 2:09.27. Sarah Schimenti also tallied a career-best, with a time of 2:26.19 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
"I thought we had a successful third day," said head coach Leonard Kraus. "In the finals we really came back and I think we have improved as a whole throughout the season."
Sunday's meet is the last event on the fall portion of the Herd's schedule. Marshall swimming and diving will return to action on Jan. 16, when it hosts Akron and California (Pa.) at 2 p.m. in the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium.
