Tennis Finishes Day Two of William and Mary Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Marshall University tennis team will advance a pair of doubles teams and two singles players to the finals after a successful day at William and Mary Invitational on Saturday.
Advancing to the finals are: Flight B singles player Raich, who will take on Newman of Virginia Tech; Flight D singles player Koprcina who will face Harvard's Chang; Flight A doubles team of Bailey and Kissell will square off against Stevens and Tomljanovic of Virginia; Flight B doubles team Koprcina and Lock against Harvard's Cao and Lehman.
Zaprazna will play an added singles Flight C match against Kedzo of East Tennessee State, while Kucin will play Prishlyak of Penn State in a Flight E matchup.
MU Flight A doubles team Deanna Bailey and Michaela Kissel defeated Clark and Cunningham of Richmond (8-4) in the quarterfinals at Busch Courts to advance to the semifinals where they took out third-seeded Acharya and Cepeda of William and Mary (8-6).
In the consolation draw, Isabell Raich and Dominica Zaprazna defeated Pop and Vulovich of William and Mary (8-2).
The Flight B doubles teams proved successful as Koprcina and Lock knocked out top-seeded Fuccillo and Vaez of Virginia (8-4) in the quarterfinals. As the duo advanced to the semifinals, the faced third-seeded Jaime and Kedzo of East Tennessee State but managed an 8-6 win.
Kellner and Kucin won their quarterfinal match against second-seeded MacKeever and Miller of Maryland (8-4). They would suffer a loss to No. 4 Cao and Lehman of Harvard (8-5) in the semifinals.
Top-seeded Kissell fell to Harvard's Holly Cao in the Flight A singles semifinal (3-6, 6-4, 6-1) at Busch Court.
Second-seeded Raich pulled a win in the semifinals of Flight B singles with a victory over Helen Cunningham of Richmond (7-5, 6-3).
In the consolation draw, Kellner took Amy Simidian of Penn State in two (6-1, 6-3). Zaprazna was swept in the Flight C singles consolation draw (5-7, 7-5, 10-7) by Virginia Tech's Shannon Betts.
Koprcina defeated second-ranked Lehman of Harvard (7-6, 4-6, 6-4) in the Flight D semifinals. In the Flight E semifinal, Lock was suffered a 6-3, 6-3 loss to Penn State's second-seeded Prishlyak.
