Kissell Advances to Finals of ITA Atlantic Regional

NORFOLK, Va. - Michaela Kissell of the Marshall University tennis team advanced to the finals of the ITA Atlantic Regional with two more wins on Sunday at Old Dominion University.

Kissell had her hands full with Hana Tomlijanovic of Virginia in the quarterfinals, however, the senior from Hostetter, Pa., was able to hang on for a 1-6, 6-4, 7-6(6) decision.

The semifinals would be less dramatic as Kissell made quick work of Jossefin Hjetquist of Virginia Commonwealth in straight sets, 6-4, 6-0.

Kissell has made her way through the 64-player main draw and is just one win away from being crowned the Atlantic Region Champion. Standing in her way will be the winner of the Martha Blakely (VT) and Petra Januskova (Penn State).
