HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University volleyball team dropped a Conference USA match to Houston in straight sets, 3-0 (17-25, 21-25, 22-25) on Friday night inside the Cam Henderson Center. The Thundering Herd will host Rice on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
Marshall (9-14, 3-8 C-USA) received a team-high 13 kills on a .324 hitting percentage from Elizabeth Herman in the loss. She added five digs, two service aces and a block assist to total 15.5 points on the night.
"We got another great match from (Elizabeth) Herman tonight. We need to find a way to get the ball to her more than we have been," head coach Mitch Jacobs said. "We just aren't playing hard enough all the way through the match and need to find a way to finish."
Elizabeth Fleming posted a double-double, her 11th of the season on 25 assists and 10 digs. Dorothy Rahal chipped in with 10 digs at the libero position.
Houston (14-10, 8-4 C-USA) was led by Lucy Charuk's 13 spikes, while Ingrida Zauere recorded a match-best 20 digs. Amanda Carson added 17 digs and Marluci Toazzi contributed 16 of her own.
