KENT, Ohio- Marshall University's Tynikki Crook and Lateidra Elliott each netted a game-high 17 points but Kent State's 57.7 percent shooting sent five KSU players into double-figures en route to a 79-55 win in Sunday afternoon's non-conference women's basketball game at the M.A.C. Center. Crook moves into 15th place in points and 11th place in rebounds on Marshall's career record list.

The Thundering Herd drops its third straight to fall to 1-4 on the season, while the Golden Flashes remain unbeaten at 5-0.

Marshall jumped out to a 14-8 advantage following Tynikki Crook's second three point play of the half, but the Golden Flashes used 56.7 percent shooting from the field, including 5-of-8 from three-point range in the first stanza to take a 40-30 lead at the break. Tamzin Barroilhet netted 10 of her 15 points in the opening 20 minutes behind a perfect 4-of-4 shooting performance.

Crook connected on a layup to open the second half but Kent State answered with an 11-2 run to open its lead to 51-34 and never looked back. Marshall would cut the deficit to 13 following a pair of Adrian Randall free throws with 13:15 remaining but that is as close as the Herd would come.

The Golden Flashes committed 31 fouls on the afternoon, sending the Herd to the charity stripe 34 times. Elliott connected for 10 of the Thundering Herds 24 made free throws.

Crook fell just short of her 20th career double-double but pulled down a game-high nine rebounds.

Taisja Jones, Ellie Shields, Chenel Harris and Leslie Schaefer all posted double-digits for the Golden Flashes. Shields netted 15 points, while Jones finished the afternoon with 14. Harris and Schaefer each added 10 points. Jamiliah Humes dished out a game-high 10 assists to go along with nine points.

Marshall opens December at home against George Washington on Thursday, December 2. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., at the Cam Henderson Center.
