Women's Hoops Set for Two Game Home Stand

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- Marshall women's basketball hosts its final two contests of the calendar year on Tuesday, Dec. 28th and Thursday, Dec. 30th, in the comfort of the Cam Henderson Center. The Thundering Herd will open the two-game home stand against Morehead State, before wrapping up 2010 verse Elon.



MU comes off a 57-47 loss to Cincinnati prior to the holiday break to fall to 3-7 on the season. Bearcat's Kayla Cook tied a career-high with 15 points to go along with seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Shareese Ulis added 13 points, while Bjonee Reaves chipped in 10 points in the win.



Tynikki Crook netted a team-high 13 points on 9-of-11 shooting from the charity stripe and nine rebounds, just missing her fifth double-double of the season, despite picking up her fourth foul with 12:56 remaining in the contest. Rashedah Henriques added 11 points, five rebounds and two assists, while Tessa Johnson sparked the Herd with eight points off the bench on 2-of-4 shooting from behind the arc.



Morehead enters Tuesday's contest with an 8-4 mark, following a 60-57 loss to Austin Peay, snapping a five-game win streak for the Eagles. Ashar Harris and Courtney Lumpkin combined for 35 points in the loss, with Harris tying for a game-high 12 rebounds.



Chynna Bozeman leads MSU at 16.0 points per game thus far this season. The senior ranks 24th in Division I in career three-pointers.



Tuesday's contest marks family night at the Cam Henderson Center. Families of four will receive admission for five dollars. Game time is scheduled for 4 p.m.



The Thundering Herd takes a one day break before jumping back into action against Elon, with a 7 p.m., scheduled tipoff.



The Phoenix is off to its best start through its first 10 games since the 1999-00 season, standing at 6-4. Elon comes to Huntington having slipped past Davidson with a 61-60 win on Dec. 20th, to grab its first conference victory of the season. Lei Lei Hairston, Shon Redmond and Ali Ford each reached double-figures in the win. Hairston posted a team-high 14 points to go along with seven rebounds in 27 minutes of action.



Elon will be forced to prove itself in its trip to the Cam Henderson Center, as the Phoenix have posted a 1-3 record in contests away from the Alumni Gym.
