HARRISONBURG, Va.- The Marshall University swimming and diving team fell 180-108 to James Madison on Thursday afternoon after impending weather forced the contest three days ahead of schedule.

Marshall moves to 5-8 on the season with the loss and 0-1 in conference action. With the win, JMU improves its record to 7-2.

Highlights from the meet came in the diving events as Rachel Hannum notched a third-place finish in the 1-meter, with a total of 269.17. Hannum's score is a career-best and third all-time at Marshall.

In the 3-meter, both Haley Holmquist and Lauren Rone saw personal-best scores. Holmquist finished third in the event with a tally of 288.07 points, while Rone was sixth with 267.45.

"Briana [Burns] had another great meet," said head coach Leonard Kraus. "Along with her, our divers did really well too. Haley had another life-time best in the three-meter."

Burns finished fourth in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 24.83, less than a second from a career-best; and also added a second-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 54.69.

The Herd will return to Fredrick A. Fitch Natatorium to host the Marshall Invite on Feb. 19 and 20, in its final home series of the year.
