Herd Tennis Topped by Tulsa, 4-3

In its only Conference USA match of the season prior to the tournament, the No. 41 Marshall University women's tennis team fell to No. 37 Tulsa 4-3 on Sunday afternoon on the campus of the University of Louisville.
The Herd (12-5) trailed 1-0 after doubles as Tulsa defeated MU's first two doubles pairings. Thaddea Lock and Deanna Bailey won in third doubles against Row/Farley by a score of 8-3.
No. 30 Michaela Kissell ran her singles record to 14-2 as the Hostetter, Pa. native defeated Alexandra Klchoutkin in No. 1 Singles 7-5, 6-4.
Second and third singles went in favor of the Golden Hurricane, but MU recorded wins in fourth and fifth singles as Catherine Kellner (14-3) and Deanna Bailey (12-4) each won their match. Kellner outlasted Ewa Szatkowska 3-6, 7-5, 7-5, and Bailey downed Rebecca Row 6-2, 6-3.
TU took sixth singles and earned the 4-3 victory.
The Herd is back on the court tomorrrow morning when MU goes to battle with Louisville at 11 a.m.
