HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- The Marshall University women's golf team's Larie Lynch (Huntington, W.Va.) earned her second Lady Herd tournament victory as she shot a season-low 72 on day two of the Lady Herd Spring Classic on Tuesday afternoon at Sleepy Hollow Country Club in Hurricane, W.Va.

Lynch improved two strokes on day two and finished the tournament with a 146 (74-72=146), to hold off Toledo's Michelle Hui, who shot a tournament-low 70 in the final round and finished in second place, three strokes behind Lynch.

Lynch's first Lady Herd tournament victory came during the fall of her sophomore season (2007) as she shot a 231 through three rounds of play at Guyan Golf and Country Club.

"I am extremely proud of Larie," head coach Meredith Knight Rowsey said. "It's amazing how well she played following her injury."

Team one for the Thundering Herd entered into Tuesday with a five stroke lead on second place Youngstown State. However, MU was unable to hold its position as Toledo shot a 301 in second round action to win the Lady Herd Spring Classic.

Samantha DiDomenico (Follansbee, W.Va.) improved one stroke on day two to earn a fourth place finish, just five strokes behind Lynch. DiDomenico's fourth place finish marks her first collegiate top-five finish (76-75=151).

Elin Anderson (Stockholm, Sweden), Molly Ginger (Centerville, Ohio) and Maria Battaglia (Uniontown, Pa.) each slipped in second round play, shooting 83, 85 and 91, respectively.

Marshall's team two improved 15 strokes in the final round to lock-up a fourth place finish (635).

"To have team one outshoot team two in the first round and then team two to outshoot team one in the second round, just goes to show that we have a lot of girls capable of playing really well" Knight-Rowsey said.

Kaci Boyd (Ashland, Ky.) led the surge for team two, shooting her collegiate-career-low, as well as a tournament-team-low 71 in the concluding round. Boyd earned the first top-10 finish of her college career, as she placed 7th (85-71=156).

"After shooting a preposterous amount of putts yesterday, Kaci was out on the greens at seven this morning working on her game and her performance today showed that it was worth it," Knight-Rowsey said. "I am very happy for her."

Andrea Grier (Hagerstown, Md.) once again proved to be reliable for the Thundering Herd, shooting a 75, improving two strokes from day one, and earning her first top-five finish.

Rachel Halloran (Leawood, Kan.) also improved two strokes on Tuesday afternoon, to shoot a season-low 80 and finish in 13th place (82-80=162).

Mary Oliver (North Hills, N.C.) and Michelle Sabo (Columbus, Ohio) wrapped up the Marshall line-ups, shooting an 84 and 94, respectively.

The Lady Herd will return to tournament action on April 5th and 6th for the Tina Barrett Longwood Invite in Farmville, Va., at the Manor Resort Golf Club.
