Conference USA Announces Academic Awards

IRVING, Texas -Conference USA has announced two academic awards. A total of 169 Marshall Student-Athletes have been named to the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor roll. The 169 MU Student-Athletes were part of a record 2,027 C-USA student-athletes have earned recognition to the Commissioner's Honor roll during the 2009-10 academic year. Student-Athletes named to the Commissioner's Honor Roll maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.

48 Marshall Student-Athletes earned the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal. Medals are given to those C-USA student-athletes who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better. Memphis had the most academic medal winners for the second year in a row with 49, followed closely by Marshall with 48 and Tulsa with 47. The number of medalists honored (420) increased by more than six percent from a year ago and nearly 30 percent more than 2007-08.
