Chad Killinger Named Assistant Women's Basketball Coach

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall University head women's basketball coach Royce Chadwick has announced the hiring of Chad Killinger as an assistant coach with the Thundering Herd.

Killinger brings 15 years of coaching experience to Marshall. He most recently served as the head women's basketball coach at Lincoln Trail (Ill.) College, a position he held since July of 2006. He was responsible for all facets of the program, which competed at the NJCAA Division I level. Killinger also coached at Lincoln Trail from 1999-2003, serving as the assistant men's basketball coach.

While coaching the women's team at Lincoln Trail, Killinger compiled a four-year record of 91-36, posting a winning season every year. His squad won 28 games in 2010, tying a program best. For his team's efforts, he received three coaching honors including Great Rivers Athletic Conference and NJCAA Region 24 Coach of the Year. His 2010 team also made its first NJCAA National Tournament appearance in 2010.

"We are very excited to add Coach Killinger to the Marshall family," Chadwick said. "He brings a wealth of experience and tremendous knowledge of the game to our staff. He is a tireless worker, outstanding recruiter and a great Christian family man."

Prior to his second stint at Lincoln Trail, Killinger was the head women's basketball coach at Jacksonville College in Texas, also a NJCAA Division I program. He coached there from 2003-2006. Along with his duties on the women's side, Killinger was also the assistant/associate men's coach along with spending time as a P.E. instructor. He set several records in his time at Jacksonville, posting the first winning season in school history in 2005 with a school record 17 wins. Upon leaving the position in 2006, he was the winningest coach in program history.

His coaching career got started in 1995 where he worked as a student assistant and volunteer assistant at Franklin College, a Division III college in Franklin, Indiana.

Killinger has also spent time working in over 20 high-profile basketball camps. He has worked alongside several D-I men's coaches including; Tubby Smith, Gary Williams, Thad Matta, Steve Alford, Todd Lickliter and Mike Davis.

He received his B.A. in Physical Education/Athletic Training from Franklin College in 1997 before receiving his Master's in Sport Management from the United States Sports Academy in Daphne Alabama. He graduated from the academy with honors in 2003.
