Kissell and Zaprazna Gear Up for NCAA Tournament

ATHENS, Ga. - Michaela Kissell plays her first round singles match of the NCAA Tennis National Championship Tournament Wednesday evening, while she and teammate Dominika Zaprazna compete in the doubles draw starting Thursday at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex, hosted by the University of Georgia.
No. 52 Kissell (18-5) will have her work cut out for her as she drew No. 4 Hilary Barte (22-3) of Stanford in the first round. Barte was the 2008-09 Pac-10 Player of the Year, and has been named First-Team All-Pac 10 three consecutive years. She leads the Cardinal into the team National Championship match on Tuesday where Stanford faces the Florida Gators.
Kissell and Barte share the court on Wednesday at 6 p.m. for their first round match. The winner of that match with play the winner of Selma Babic of Long Island and Ute Schnoy of Denver in the round of 32.
Doubles action begins Thursday as No. 35 Kissell and Zaprazna (21-7) take on No. 7 Josipa Bek and Ina Hadziselimovic (24-8) of Clemson.
This is not the first time Kissell and Bek have faced each other this season. Kissell defeated Bek in the fall at the ITA/Riviera All-American Championships in Los Angeles.
The winner of the Marshall/Clemson match will face the victorious side of Blalock/Matzenauer of Cal Poly and Borsanyi/Broosova of Baylor in the round of 16. Times for doubles matches have yet to be determined.
