Herd Tennis Completes Day One at William & Mary Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Marshall University women's tennis team completed day one at the William & Mary Invitational with very positive results Friday afternoon at the Millie West Tennis Facilities.
Michaela Kissell, the number one overall seed in singles, advanced to the semifinals with a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Joanna Dobrowlska and a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Jeltje Loomans of W&M.
Kissell was also successful in her one doubles match as she and teammate Kristina Koprcina took down Cepeda/Loomans of William & Mary. The duo will play Fraser/Tomljanovic of Virginia Saturday morning.
Also in Flight A singles, Dominika Zaprazna defeated Miriam Westerink of Eastern Michigan in straight sets 6-1, 6-3 then fell to Holly Cao of Harvard in the quarterfinals 6-1, 6-2.
She and teammate Maria Voscekova also advanced in Flight A doubles with a 8-6 victory over Norton/Tachibana of Harvard. The two will face Bara/Hjertquist of VCU on Saturday.
