Huntington, W.Va. - Marshall come out victorious against the Musketeers of Xavier thanks to an all-around performance from the Herd, which included new school and career performances established.

Marshall (3-2) collected 12 victories during the meet, which included Diver Lauren Rone's score of 281.55 in the one meter diving event, qualifying her for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships. She also set new Marshall all-time scores in both top ten performances and performers in one meter diving.

"I am extremely proud and ecstatic of Lauren's performance," said Head Diving Coach Jim Zagaria. "She has been working extremely hard since the spring, including practicing over the summer. This was a big goal of hers."

On the swimming side, both relay events belonged to the Herd. Swimmers Alex Dschaak, Madison Lawhorn, Sarah Kay, and Kacey Preun would team up to win the 400 medley relay while the grouping of Alex Dschaak, Lawhorn, Megan Demeter, and Lauren Hurd would nudge out a victory in the 200 freestyle relay.

In individual events, the Herd would be helped thanks to multiple victories from Sarah Kay and Kacey Preun. Kay captured first place finishes in the 200 butterfly, 100 butterfly, and 200 individual medley. Her time of 2:04.13 in the 200 butterfly places her fourth in all-time performers at Marshall and the third best time among Conference USA this season. It was her fourth straight victory in the event.

Preun garnered first place in the 200 freestyle and 200 breaststroke. The freshman sensation placed herself second all-time in top ten performers at Marshall in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:21.68. It is also her career best time at Marshall.

Additionally, Marshall grabbed first time victories of the year from Tiffany Aeling (1000 freestyle) and Kaley Gregory (500 freestyle). Lawhorn (100 breaststroke) was the Herd's other individual winner.

Head Coach Russell Hunt was happy with the Herd's performance in the pool, "I was proud of our relays today, and we saw significant improvement. They were breakthrough team performances, and the players were able to rally around them."

Marshall will return to action Saturday, November 5th when they travel to Ohio to battle the Youngstown State Penguins. The meet slated to begin at 2 pm.
