HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall was able to split with Fairmont State and Western Kentucky during Saturday's double-dual at home inside Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium.

The Herd (7-3) was able to defeat Fairmont, 226.00-46.00 but fell to Western Kentucky, 193.00-107.00. WKU (5-1) defeated Fairmont (1-3), 240.00-40.00, during the meet

Sarah Kay continues to excel in the 200-yard Butterfly with her sixth straight win the event. This time the sophomore would get to the wall first with a career best time of 2:02.20. That gives her the sixth fastest time in Herd swimming history along with the second best time in all-time Marshall top ten performers.

Kacey Preun, another strong performer all-season, helped the Herd earn the split with two victories in the water. With wins in the 200-yard Breaststroke (2:20.61) and the 1000-yard Freestyle (10:15.51), Preun now has 14 victories this season. The freshman's performance in the 1000 Free is her career best time and the third fastest in Thundering Herd swimming history.

Additional winners in the water Saturday were swimmer Madison Lawhorn with the Herd's best time of the season in the 100-yard Breaststroke (1:04.03) and diver Lauren Rone, whom grabbed the top spot in the one-meter diving competition with a score of 275.02.

Saturday's dual wraps up the Herd's fall semester portion of the schedule. Marshall will now take a break lasting a little more than month before returning to action when they host Akron on January 14th.
