Marshall takes 200 Medley Relay; Mumgaudyte wins 200 Breaststroke

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving Team fell to the Ohio Bobcats on Friday, 216.5-72.50, at the Frederick A. Fitch Natatorium on Friday in Huntington.
It was a great competition with Ohio today, Herd Swimming and Diving Head Coach Phobe Campbell said. Our team really stepped up and showed a lot of grit today. Taking home a win in the 200 Medley Relay really set the tone and got the energy up right from the start. Later following it up with a 1-2 finish in the 200 Breaststroke was huge for our team!
The Herd started the meet with Lauren Ramsey, Ieva Mumgaudyte, Halla Amr Salem and Karley Wolfgram winning the 200 Medley Relay (1:46.16) by 0.06 of a second.
MU took the top two places in the 200 Breaststroke with Mumgaudyte took the event (2:22.67) with Sadie Rogers taking second (2:24.20). Mumgaudyte also took second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:06.40).
Marshall then captured another trio of second place finishes with Allison Dodd in the 200 Butterfly (2:09.10), Amr Salem in the 100 Butterfly (58.76) and Rogers in the 200 IM (2:09.62).
The team's other podium finishes came with third-place finishes by Lexie Lamont in the 200 Freestyle (1:55.16), Amr Salem in the 100 Backstroke (57.70), Wolfgram in the 50 Freestyle (24.47), Laure Bell in the 100 Butterfly (58.89) and the 200 Freestyle Relay team of Amr Salem, Mumgaudyte, Wolfgram and Lungu (1:37.99) to close out the meet.
We are seeing a lot of positive momentum, Campbell said. As we prepare for our mid-season meet on 11/20-11/22, I feel nothing but confidence in our team as we keep pushing forward.
