HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - After dropping its second match of the season on Saturday, the No. 55 Marshall University tennis team rebounded nicely as the Thundering Herd swept Middle Tennessee State 7-0 on Sunday afternoon at the Huntington Tennis Center.
The Herd (8-2) took the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Michaela Kissell and Dominika Zaprazna ran their record 10-0 as the duo defeated Yuiri Nomoto and Lisa Maas in first doubles, 8-2. On court three, Kristina Koprcina and Kara Kucin teamed up for the first time this season as they also won 8-2 over MTSU's Alex Dachos and Carla Nava.
The Herd dominated singles as every position won in straight sets. Kissell had little trouble with Nomoto in first singles as she was victorious, 6-1, 6-2. Zaprazna gathered her fourth win of the weekend with a 6-3, 6-2 decision in second singles.
Catherine Kellner, the reigning Conference USA Player of the Week, won on court three 6-1, 6-3, while Koprcina won her match in fourth singles, 6-4, 7-5.
Courts five and six were no match for the Herd as Maria Voscekova took care of business in fifth singles with a 6-0, 6-1 victory, while Kucin completed the sweep in sixth singles with a 6-2, 6-1 victory.
Next up for the Herd is a road trip with a match set against William & Mary on February 19th, followed by a contest with Old Dominion University the following day. Last year MU fell to W&M and defeated ODU.
