Winton Named MU Student-Athlete of the Week

In Taylor Winton's first collegiate at-bat, the freshman came up in a pinch-hitting role to record a home run against South Florida on Friday at the USF Wilson-DeMarini Tournament. Against USF and No. 5 Florida, Winton hit a 1.000 batting average, 2.500 slugging percentage, two RBI and scored one run. Her RBI in the loss against Florida helped Marshall break up the Gators' no hitter and shutout. For the weekend, Winton had a team-best .455 batting average (5-for-11), .818 slugging percentage, .417 on-base percentage, while tying for a club-high five hits, one double and one home run.
