No. 55 Marshall Tennis Outlasts Virginia Tech, 4-3

BLACKSBURG, Va. - Catherine Kellner won her singles match on court three to lift the No. 55 Marhsall University tennis team to a 4-3 victory over Virginia Tech on Sunday at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
The Thundering Herd improved to 7-1 on the season and closed the gap to a 9-5 advantage for the Hokies in the all-time series.
MU took the doubles point with wins on courts one and two as Michaela Kissell and Dominika Zaprazna continued their undefeated run to improve to 8-0 with a win in first doubles, 8-6, over Hamza/Johnson. Second doubles saw Catherine Kellner and Maria Voscekova squeak out a 9-8 victory on court two.
Kissell took care of business on court one in singles with a straight set 6-1, 6-1 victory over Martha Blakely. Kara Kucin won on court six 7-5, 6-0, and Kellner wrapped up the victory for the Herd with a 6-3, 7-5 in third singles.
Marshall takes on its third ranked opponent as it takes on No. 24 Virginia on February 12th in Charlottesville.
