Kissell Named ITA Atlantic Senior of the Year

SKILLMAN, N.J. - Michaela Kissell of the Marshall University tennis team has been recognized as the ITA Atlantic Region Senior of the Year, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association on Friday evening.
Kissell earned the honor by playing to a 2010-11 overall record of 53-16. Kissell currently holds a national singles ranking of No. 52 and a doubles ranking of No. 22 with teammate Dominika Zaprazna. She is scheduled to participate in the NCAA Tournament for both singles and doubles.
Marshall's ace has played from the No. 1 position for the two years she has been at Marshall. In her senior spring season, Kissell played to an overall singles record of 15-5 while recording a doubles record of 20-2. She and Zaprazna were the first two in program history to go through the regular-season with an undefeated record at 19-0. The two will put their talents to the test in the upcoming NCAA Tournament.
Kissell was a repeat selection for the Conference USA All-Academic Team as well as an All-Conference USA First Team member for singles. As a senior, she was an All-Conference USA Second Team selection for doubles.
MU's top duo will participate in NCAA's starting on May 26th. Kissell will also play in singles starting the 25th.
