HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall (13-6, 4-1 Conference USA) will go for its first-ever series sweep of UAB (6-12, 1-4 C-USA) when the men's basketball team faces the Blazers on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The game will be broadcast nationally on CSS with Mike Morgan (play-by-play) and Brian Oliver (analyst) calling the action.
The game will feature two of the top three rebounders in C-USA as Marshall's Dennis Tinnon and UAB's Cameron Moore are both averaging 10.7 rebounds per game. Moore, the C-USA Preseason Player of the Year, is averaging a double-double with 15.5 points per game while Tinnon is just under the double-digit average with 9.7 points per game.
Marshall is coming off a 67-63 loss at Southern Miss on Saturday. Sophomore guard DeAndre Kane led the Herd with 21 points to increase his team-leading average to 16.4 points per game, good for second in the conference.
Wednesday's game will be Marshall's 100th as member of Conference USA. A win over the Blazers would be the Herd's best start ever in C-USA and be its best start to conference play since a 6-0 start to the 1996-97 Southern Conference season.
UAB has lost five of its last six games including a 48-41 loss at UCF on Saturday.
In the team's first meeting earlier this season in Birmingham, Ala., the Blazers held a lead for most of the game until the Herd went on a 14-2 run late in the second half to escape with a 61-59 win. Junior forward Robert Goff scored what proved to be the game-winning basket with a conventional three-point play with 41 seconds remaining.
UAB leads the all-time series 10-6 including a 5-2 advantage in Huntington.
The game can be heard throughout the Thundering Herd Radio Network. Gametracker can be accessed through HerdZone.com.
