HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall's men's basketball coach Tom Herrion has announced the signing of NJCAA All-American D.D. Scarver to a National Letter of Intent.

Scarver is a 6-4 shooting guard/small forward from Birmingham, Ala. and has played the past two seasons at Trinity Valley Community College. Along with reaching All-American status, Scarver was named NJCAA Region XIV Player of the Year. He led the region with 24.1 points per game while leading Trinity Valley to a 21-9 record.

"We are really excited to add a quality player like D.D. this spring," Herrion said. "He had a tremendous season for coach Pat Smith at Trinity Valley this year. He has terrific offensive abilities and can really shoot the basketball. He comes from a winning culture and will be a great asset to go with our core of returning players. My staff continues to do a great job with all of our recruiting efforts."

As a sophomore, Scarver shot 43 percent from the field, 36 percent from three-point range and 83 percent from the free throw line. He will begin his Marshall career as a junior and have two seasons of eligibility.

Scarver joins Kareem Canty, Elijah Pittman and Tamron Manning as players that have signed for the 2012-13 season.
