HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Gloriya Mavrova has signed a National Letter of Intent with Marshall, swimming and diving coach Bill Tramel announced Wednesday.
Mavrova, a senior at T.C. Williams High School in Alexandria, Va., also swims for Bill Marlin and the Potomac Marlins. As a junior, she was a finalist in the Virginia State High School Championship.
Mavrova's best times include 24.34 in the 50 freestyle and a 53.14 in the 100 freestyle.
"We met Gloriya during one of our senior days," Tramel said. "We had seen her compete at the NCSA Juniors earlier in the summer and were impressed. Gloriya continued to stand out during her official visit. Gloriya will immediately contribute within our sprint corps."
Expressing her excitement regarding her decision, Mavrova said, "I chose Marshall because of the strong connection I felt with the team. The coach, Bill Tramel, has had a lot of experience, and I feel like I can improve a lot with him as my coach. I can't wait to be a part of the Herd next year. "
Mavrova is the third signee of the swimming and diving 2014 recruiting class.
