TAMPA, Fla.-The Marshall softball team got another spectacular outing from pitcher Andi Williamson and a game-winning sacrifice fly from designated hitter Alyssa Cook to pull out a 2-1 win over Florida Atlantic in eight innings on Sunday on the final day of competition at the USF-Demarini Tournament.

Marshall improved to 2-3, while FAU dropped to 0-4.

Williamson (2-2) went the entire way for the Herd, allowing one run on four hits and five walks with eight strikeouts.

Right fielder Ashley Gue had a 3-for-3 day at the plate, while right fielder Shaelynn Braxton (double), first baseman Alysia Hively (double) and second baseman Bri Anna Hope also registered hits. Gue posted a stolen base in the third inning, as well.

Hively's double to left center in the second inning scored Braxton and gave MU an early 1-0 lead. FAU evened the affair in the fifth before Cook's sacrifice fly to left in the eighth scored third baseman Jazmine Valle with the game-winning tally.

Williamson got 11 groundouts on the day and stranded 11 FAU baserunners.

The Herd will travel to Atlanta, Ga. next weekend for five games, where it will face Indiana twice, Miami twice and the host Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.
