BLACKSBURG, Va.-The Marshall tennis team split the six singles matches with 63rd-ranked Virginia Tech, but the Hokies were able to claim the doubles point to emerge with a 4-3 win at the Burrows-Burleson Tennis Center.
VT improved to 9-2, while the Herd dropped to 6-6.
The Hokies won the doubles point by taking 8-5 and 8-2 wins at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively.
Marshall's Maria Zaprazna took a 6-3, 1-6, 6-4 win at No. 1, while Maria Voscekova secured a straight-set, 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3.
MU's Karlyn Timko won her sixth-straight match with a 6-2, 7-5 win at No. 5.
The Herd will be in action next weekend at the Blue-Grey Tennis Classic in Montgomery, Ala.
