Herd Tennis Trounces Liberty, 6-1

LYNCHBURG, Va.-The Marshall tennis team won the doubles point and then went on to win five of the six singles matches to defeat host Liberty 6-1 Saturday afternoon in Lynchburg.
The Herd evened its record at 10-10 on the season with the victory.
MU's Dominika Zaprazna and Kara Kucin picked up an 8-1 win at No. 1 doubles, while Ellie Ball and Maria Voscekova emerged with an 8-4 win at No. 2 to clinch the team point. Dana Oppinger and Kai Broomfield dropped an 8-4 decision at No. 3.
Broomfield fell 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles, but Ball rebounded to take the No. 5 match 6-2, 6-0. Voscekova then followed with a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 3 before Kucin dispatched her opponent 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6.
The top two matches went three sets, but the Herd pulled out wins in both. Oppinger won 6-4, 4-6, 6-1 at No. 2 and Zaprazna recovered from dropping the first set when she won 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1.
The Herd will play its final home match of the season Wednesday when Louisville pays a visit for a 1 p.m. contest.
