Herd Finishes 29th in Final USA Today Coaches Poll

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.-Marshall football finished 29th overall in the final USA Today Coaches Poll, which was released Tuesday morning.

The Herd finished with 17 points, with just Washington (67), Fresno State (54) and Northern Illinois (21) standing between it and the final Top 25.

The Herd’s five-win improvement from 2012 (a 10-4 finish, following 5-7) was among the best in major college football. The only three teams topping Marshall are Auburn at plus-9 (from 3-9 to 12-2), Cotton Bowl victor Missouri at plus-7 (5-7 to 12-2) and Rose Bowl champ Michigan State at plus-6 (7-6 to 13-1).
