HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall women's basketball's road contest against Conference USA newcomer Western Kentucky on Feb. 14, 2015, will be televised by FOX Sports Network, announced Friday. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. ET at E. A. Diddle Arena in Bowling Green, Ky.
The Valentine's Day meeting will be the second of the 2014-15 C-USA season between the Herd and Lady Toppers, with the first set for Jan. 4, 2015, in Huntington. The matchup is one of five home-and-home C-USA series for the Herd. Marshall is 0-2 all-time against WKU, and the January meeting will be the first since Jan. 5, 1977, a 92-56 win for the Lady Toppers.
"We are excited to play on national television again," Coach Matt Daniel said. "Western Kentucky is new to our league, but everyone knows what a tough environment it is to play in. [WKU coach] Michelle [Clark-Heard] does a great job, and I expect a television game will only boost the atmosphere."
C-USA enjoys significant television exposure through partnerships with FOX Sports Media Group, CBS Sports Network and ESPN. The multi-tiered selection process that is rooted in partnering with all three networks has substantially increased the number of national and regional appearances for football, men's and women's basketball and all other conference sports.
C-USA membership include institutions within eight of the Top 40 media markets and four in the Top 25 according to Nielsen. C-USA home markets this year will include more than 13 million TV households, a 30 percent increase from two years ago.
Daniel's third season at the Herd's helm will open on Nov. 14, 2014, in Kingston, R.I., at the URI Tip-Off Tournament, where Marshall will face the host Rams.
