Ryan Taylor, R-So, Forward
On the team's defensive play
"Last year, we gave a lot of points up and even in the exhibition game, our defense lacked a little bit in the first half. But in the second half we picked it up. Our main goal is just to come out and as you would say, punch them in the mouth first. I think our defense's intensity set the tone of the game from the jump start."
On playing both 'inside' and 'outside'
"It wasn't 'should I make this pass or should I make this pass'. It just came natural to me. It started in high school when I started playing inside and out. My high school coach always told me 'You're probably done growing so work on your ball handling. Key in on that.' It felt natural to me. I was fine with the ball and fine on the perimeter. Everything Coach D'Antoni wanted me to play, I was fine with."
Austin Loop, RS-So, Guard
On the growing confidence in his shot
"It helps a lot. Like I have said before, as a shooter, you can't ask for anything more than a coach, who if I catch it and I can see the rim, he wants me to shoot it. He told me a couple days ago that he would rather me go 0-10 before passing up an open shot. I was talking about our offense, it relies on shooters shooting open shots."
On his outside shot game
"The first time I was in, the first like five minutes, I didn't get a shot. I couldn't get a shot. Then after he kept scoring and scoring, then my guy wants to help, and then they find me in the corner."
Cheikh Sane, Sr., Forward
On the new system and new offense
"I really like the offense better than last year. Everybody is free to do whatever they want. I can just be me and play the game. Listen to coach, get the concept, and play hard going to the basket."
