Silver Earns Second Consecutive Singles Win Sunday

HUNTINGTON, W. Va.-- Marshall tennis concluded its final day at the Tribe Invitational in Williamsburg, Va., with a round of single matches against the host William & Mary.
Freshman Maddie Silver (Grand Rapids, Mich.) was the lone victor Sunday, defeating the Tribe's Julia Casselbury 6-2, 6-0.
Sophomore Derya Turhan (Bad Salzuflen, Germany) fell in the first singles position after a 6-1, 6-4 defeat to W&M's Jeltje Loomans.
Lone senior Kai Broomfield (Toronto, Canada) was defeated 6-4, 6-3 at second singles and sophomore Anna Pomyatinskaya (Sochi, Russia) lost 6-2, 6-1.
Sophomore Rachael Morales (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) battled in her matching, forcing three sets as she won her first set 6-2 before falling 6-2, 7-6 to Melanie Roy.
Sophomore Anne Gulsrud (Stavenger, Norway) was also forced into three sets. Gulsrud picked up the first set 6-3 but lost after 6-1, 6-4 scores in the final two sets.
