HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall women's basketball (11-6, 3-3) will look to secure its first win against UTEP (8-7, 3-3) in El Paso, Texas, when it takes on the Miners at 4 p.m. ET on Saturday at Don Haskins Center.

HAVE YOU HERD?
Junior guard Norrisha Victrum (Columbia, S.C.) led Marshall offensively for the second consecutive game with 14 points, but the Thundering Herd could not drum up a second-half comeback and fell, 60-48, at UTSA on Thursday at the Convocation Center. Marshall's 48 points, 25 rebounds and 18 field goals were all season lows.
A HERD WIN WOULDââ'¬Â¦
- Give Marshall its best record (12-6) since 2011-12, when it went 12-6 to begin the season
- Give the Herd its best start (4-3) to conference play since 2008-09, when it went 4-3
- Be Marshall's first against the Miners in El Paso
- Be the Herd's first against UTEP since Feb. 14, 2013 (W, 59-47, in Huntington)
- Total the most season wins (12) and conference season wins (4) for the Herd under coach Matt Daniel (12)

The Herd leads Conference USA in nearly every defensive statistic: scoring defense (57.9 ppg), field goal percentage defense (.358), defensive rebounds (27.8/game), 3-point field goal percentage defense (.260) and blocks per game (4.2). Notably, its 3-point percentage defense (.260) ranks No. 18 among D-I women's basketball teams this season.
UNDAUNTED
Marshall is the only Conference USA team yet to register a losing streak this season. The Herd is 5-0 in games following a loss.

SCOUTING THE MINERS
UTEP (8-7, 3-3) is looking to break a two-game slump in league play, most recently falling to No. 24 Western Kentucky, 80-74, on Thursday. The Miners list two double-figure scorers in Cameasha Turner (13.9 ppg) and Sparkle Taylor (10.0). Turner leads the squad in rebounding (6.1/game), while Lulu McKinney dishes out a team-high 3.5 assists per game.
The Herd last met UTEP last year on Jan. 29, 2014, in a 77-50 Marshall loss at the Haskins Center in El Paso. Marshall's last win over the Miners came Feb. 14, 2013, in Huntington (59-47).
