Herd Swimming and Diving Hosts First Home Meet Friday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall swimming and diving team opens its home schedule Friday at 6 p.m. with a meet against Cincinnati and VMI at Fitch Natatorium.
Admission is free for spectators. The Fitch Natatorium is located inside the Cam Henderson Center on the second floor concourse.
HAVE YOU HERD?
In its first meet, the Herd finished second at the West Virginia State Games in Morgantown, W.Va. The Herd divers had a strong meet, with juniors Kelly Toner and Heather Lonkert leading the way in the 1 and 3 meters, respectively.
Additionally, the Herd had six second-place individual finishes in events. Anna Lynch (500 freestyle), Gloriya Mavrova (50 free), Caroline Wanner (200 IM), Emma Lockyer (500 IM), Chloe Parsemain (100 butterfly) and Savannah Ruedt (1,650 free) all were runners-up in their respective events.
Junior Laura Bradley also swam a lifetime-best 5:19.56 in the 50 freestyle.
TRAMEL TALK
"Friday evening will be a great opportunity to compete against some formidable competition. Our main focus will be improving. Improving not only from the West Virginia Games, but also we will look at being better than we were at this time last year. Each one of our competitions is preparation for the Conference USA Championships in February. As long as we are moving forward, improving our times and scores, then we can feel confident we are moving towards success at the end of the season."

NEXT UP
The Herd will return to action on Oct. 30-31 in Davidson, N.C., for a meet against Davidson and Old Dominion. Friday's meet starts at 6 p.m., while Saturday's begins at 10 a.m.
