HAVE YOU HERD?
The Herd is off to its best ever start in dual and tri-meets, with a 7-0 record. That includes a sweep last week in Cleveland against Cleveland State and St. Bonaventure.
MEET HIGHLIGHTS
Sophomore Madi Pulfer led the Herd with two wins, including a lifetime best 10:18.98 in the 1,000 freestyle, seventh fastest in school history. She also won the 200 backstroke with a time of 2:08.09. Sophomore Nele Albers added two wins as well, in the 200 freestyle (1:55.43) and 500 yard freestyle (5:08.25).
Junior diver Megan Wolons also had two wins.
WOLONS WINS THIRD CONSECUTIVE C-USA DIVER OF THE WEEK
For the third consecutive week, Marshall junior diver Megan Wolons (Williamsburg, Va.) has been named the Conference USA Diver of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday.
Wolons splits the award with Rebecca Quesnel of FIU in only the third case of co-awards in the league's history.
Continuing her impressive recent form, Wolons won the 3-meter dive for the third consecutive week, posting a 305.60 to top her own school record set two weeks ago. She also set the Conference USA top time with the score. Additionally, Wolons won the 1-meter dive with a score of 261.60.
Wolons' third-consecutive C-USA award marks the first time the feat has been accomplished since 2013.
TRAMEL TALK
Marshall coach Bill Tramel on the meet:
"This will be a great competition. We are going to try and keep it simple. Focus on what we can control and execute our dives and swims how we practice them. Right now, that is our goal. Season bests. This will be a last tune-up for Nike Cup next week, which is our main focus fall semester. It should be a great challenge for us, and I know the athletes are looking forward to racing tomorrow."
