HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall tennis wraps up its fall season this weekend, as it travels to the College of Charleston Tennis Classic to square off against Charleston, Winthrop and Princeton over the three-day event.
LAST TIME OUT
This weekend's tournament will be the first competition for Marshall since the ITA Atlantic Regional, where the Herd turned in a strong performance. Marshall had a doubles team of Jackie Carr (Rogers, Ark.) and Rachael Morales (Columbus, Ohio) reached the Round of 16, while Derya Turhan (Bad Salzuflen, Germany) advanced to the Round of the 16 in singles play.

"This is a great trip to end the fall season. It will be us, Princeton, Winthrop and College of Charleston. We should be able to get some good tennis outside and continue to work on some doubles now that Maddie Silver is back in the line-up."
SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
The host school, College of Charleston, is coming of a 12-12 season last year, including a second place finish in the CAA Championship. The Herd and Cougars have already played once this year, as the two teams met in January to open their spring schedule. Marshall went on to defeat College of Charleston, 6-1.
Marshall will face the Princeton Tigers to begin the tournament on Friday morning in doubles. The Tigers finished 12-9 last year, and earned a trip to the NCAA tournament, where they lost in the first round against South Carolina. The Herd and Tigers have only met twice in the regular season since 1993, as the two squads have split the two matches.
The final team that the Herd will meet is Winthrop, who they play first in singles competition on Friday. The Eagles finished their 2015 campaign with a 12-12 record and going 7-2 in the Big South. Marshall and Winthrop met in March, where the Herd swept Eagles, 7-0.
