HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -
The Marshall women's basketball team gets set for its final non-conference home game Tuesday, Dec. 22 against WVU Tech. Tipoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.


Marshall (8-1) is coming off of an 81-67 win over Norfolk State. It was the Herd's third straight victory scoring 81 points.

With the noon tipoff it will be "Spend Your Lunch with The Herd!" Marshall faculty and staff members get free admission with a valid Marshall ID. There is also a $5 "Meal Deal" where you purchase your ticket and get a voucher for a small drink, popcorn and a hot dog for $5.

SCOUTING THE GOLDEN BEARS
The WVU Tech Golden Bears (6-7) have won two straight first against Newport News Apprentice School (76-60) and Indiana University Southeast (65-55). The team is led by freshman guard Savannah Shamblin at 13.8 ppg and 4.8 apg. Senior forward Courtney Fisher leads the Golden Bears with 9.7 rpg.

This will be the 11th meeting between the two schools. Marshall leads the series 10-0. The previous meeting was in the Cam, Dec. 9, 2013. The Herd won 86-42. Leah Scott, Norrisha Victrum, Chelsey Romero and Kiana Evans all played for the Herd in that contest. Romero dominated with 14 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks. Scott finished with nine points and 10 rebounds. Victrum and Evans both chipped in six points each. It was only the seventh game of their Marshall career for Scott, Romero and Evans.

RECORD BOOK WATCH
The Herd has a few players who are approaching career milestones and rising up the ranks of the program record book.

Senior Leah Scott has scored 155 points this season for a career total of 988. She is 12 points shy of becoming the 19th player in team history to score 1,000. She also ranks 11th all-time with 236 free-throws made and needs 4 more to be in the top 10.


Senior Norrisha Victrum can be found in a few places in the record book. Victrum has 308 assists and needs 7 more to pass Kim Lewis (1984-1988) for 5th place. Victrum is currently tied for 8th in 3-point field goals made (97) and 9th in 3-point field goals attempted (305). Victrum needs 215 points to become the 20th player to reach 1,000 for her career.


Junior Chelsey Romero has 17 blocks this season to give her a career total of 101. Romero is in 5th place all-time and is the 5th player in program history with 100 in a career.


WINNING AT HOME
Marshall is on a 12-game home winning streak against non-conference opponents. The last loss was Dec. 29, 2013 against Navy, 72-68. Wins are:
