@Herd_Tennis Falls in C-USA Finale

HOUSTON -- After a week full of capitivating tennis, No. 2 seed Marshall fell to No. 1 seed Rice 4-1 Sunday in the finals of the 2015 Conference USA Tournament.
The Herd ended its season 16-10 with a national ranking of No. 60-- Rice finished 16-8, ranked No. 30.
The doubles point went in favor of the Owls to start the day with wins over Derya Turhan (Bad Salzuflen, Germany) and Anna Pomyatinskaya (Sochi, Russia) on court 1 (8-3), and Kai Broomfield (Toronto, Canada) and Marija Bogicevic (Belgrade, Serbia) on court 2 (8-2). The third pairing of Rachael Morales (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) and Maddie Silver (Grand Rapids, Mich.) were left on court 3 unfinished (2-6).
In singles, Rice captured three wins on courts 1, 5 and 6 over Turhan (7-6, 6-1), Bogicevic (6-3, 6-2) and Morales (7-5, 6-0). Silver posted the only Herd point of the day, capturing a 6-1, 6-2 win on court 3.
Pomyatinskaya and Broomfield were left on courts 2 and 4 unfinished--Broomfield ended her final collegiate season 10-12 in singles action.
The win makes the Owls third consecutive conference championship, becoming just the third team in C-USA to do so.
