HUNTINGTON, W. Va.-- After climbing to the Top 50 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings, No. 48 Marshall tennis (14-7) will finish its 2015 regular season this weekend with two road matches in Virginia.
First, the Herd will head to Norfolk to take on Conference USA foe No. 71 Old Dominion (13-4) Friday, April 10 at 1 p.m. at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. The Herd will then head to Richmond to face VCU (12-8) Saturday, April 11 at 11 a.m. at the Thalhimer Tennis Center
HAVE YOU HERD?
After capturing two ranked wins last weekend over then-No. 38 DePaul and then-No. 52 William and Mary, the Herd vaulted into the rankings after being unranked the previous week. The team's current No. 48 ranking is the highest for coach John Mercer's program since a No. 41 ranking in mid-March of 2011.
In singles action, the Herd posts 'triple trouble' throughout the line up. Freshman Maddie Silver (Grand Rapids, Mich.), and sophomores Anna Pomyatinskaya (Sochi, Russia) and Rachael Morales (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) are each on three-match winning streaks. The three have been a solid force throughout the regular season--Silver has captured 14 wins, Pomyatinskaya with a team-high 16, and Morales 15.
SCOUTING THE MONARCHS
Old Dominion (13-4) is on a seven-match winning streak, their most recent match being a 5-1 win over Norfolk State. At the number 1 spot, nationally ranked No. 98 Borislava Botusharova posts a 15-1 record. In doubles, she and partner Nikol Hristova are 7-8.
SCOUTING THE RAMS
VCU (12-8) is on a three-match winning streak, coming off a 5-0 win over George Washington. The team's number one player, Cindy Chala, is nationally ranked No. 61 and posts a 14-1 record this season. Her only loss was to Botusharova (ODU). In doubles, Chala holds a 9-4 record. She and her most recent partner, Salome Kvitasvili, are on a four-match winning streak.

The 2015 C-USA Tournament is scheduled in Houston from April 15-19. Tournament host Rice is the top-ranked C-USA team (No. 30 in this week's ITA 75), followed by No. 48 Marshall and No. 71 ODU.
