Herd Announces 2015-16 Women's Basketball Schedule

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall coach Matt Daniel announced the Thundering Herd’s 2015-16 women’s basketball schedule on Wednesday. The schedule includes 17 regular-season home dates.
Marshall finished with a 17-15 record last season and recorded the program’s first postseason berth since 1997 when it defeated top-seeded Northern Kentucky 81-79 in the first round of the Women’s Basketball Invitational. That was the Herd’s first postseason win in a major college NCAA event.
Among those the Herd will host in its non-conference slate are Rhode Island (Nov. 18, 17-13 in 2014-15), Cornell (Nov. 27, 15-13) and Norfolk State (Dec. 20, 11-5 in MEAC play). Marshall will face West Virginia at the Charleston Civic Center on Dec. 13. The Mountaineers (18-14) were runners-up in the 2015 Women’s NIT. Daniel’s squad will also face Southern Illinois on the road (Dec. 28, 17-13).
Reigning Conference USA champion Western Kentucky (30-4) will host Marshall on Jan. 3 and come to the Henderson Center on Feb. 13. Marshall also will face 2015 WNIT participant Middle Tennessee (21-9) on Jan. 28 in Murfreesboro, Tenn. and again on Feb. 27 in Huntington.
The Conference USA Tournament will return to Birmingham, Ala., from March 8-12.
