@Herd_Tennis Travels To UVa Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Marshall tennis returns to the courts this weekend at the UVa Invitational at the Snyder Tennis Center. The invitational will begin on Friday, Sept. 25 at 9 a.m. and concludes on Sunday.
Student-athletes from eight schools will compete in the three-day event. Schools represented are Arkansas, George Washington, Marshall, Maryland, Miami (Ohio), Old Dominion, Utah and the host school Virginia.
The tournament will consist of three singles draws and three doubles draw. The white doubles is a round-robin, while the blue and orange doubles are tournament based.
Last week, Marshall competed at the Tribe Invitational hosted by William & Mary College. The Herd was led by Derya Turhan (Bad Salzuflen, Germany), who recorded a singles match victory in straight sets. The duo of Jackie Carr (Rogers, Ark.) and Rachael Morales (Columbus, Ohio) paved the way for MU with a shutout match win over VCU.
The Cavaliers will present the biggest threat to the herd, with three individuals ranked in the top 30 in the Top 125 ITA Singles Preseason Rankings. Virginia's sophomore Cassie Mercer is the daughter of Marshall Head Coach John Mercer.
Arkansas, Maryland, Old Dominion each have one ranked player on their teams.

Marshall will travel to the All-American Championships that begins on Oct. 3 in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
