HUNTINGTON, W.Va. -- Jordyn O'Dell, a senior at George Washington High School in Charleston, W.Va., has signed a National Letter of Intent with Marshall University swimming and diving. O'Dell holds the third fastest times in state high school history in the 100 backstroke (57.47) and 100 butterfly.

"I can't tell you how excited we are to have Jordyn joining us next fall," Herd coach Bill Tramel said. "She is a fantastic student and has been accustomed to winning teams. She was a member of GW's three high school state champion teams. I'm also overjoyed that Jordyn will be staying close to home for her collegiate pursuits. Jordyn loves Marshall University and is such an excellent fit with our team. During her visit, if you didn't know better, you would have thought she was already a member of our team."

In addition to O'Dell's individual accomplishments, she is also a member of the George Washington relay teams that set the West Virginia High School state records in the 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay. She also is committed in the classroom and is enrolled in all honors courses.

"I cannot wait to be a part of the Thundering Herd swim team, to work hard and contribute to the team goals as a freshman," O'Dell said. "Go Herd!"

O'Dell is the fourth member of the Marshall swimming and diving recruiting class of 2020.
